For the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg heat 11 manufactures and assembles a process plant fired with wood and biogas for the composting plant Buetzberg that is run by the Stadtreinigung (municipal cleaning organization) Hamburg. More than 12.000 tons of green waste are to be burned CO2 neutrally and used to generate process heat for the biogas plant. The completion is still scheduled for 2011.
Since the mid-1990’s, compost has been generated at the composting plant Buetzberg. In addition to this recycling, the biological waste is converted into energy also in the future. By dry fermentation, biogas will be generated that is made available to the climate-conscious citizen of Hamburg and to the own car fleet of Stadtreinigung. heat 11 delivers the complete process heat plant turn-key for heating the biogas processing plant. The plant mainly consists of one waste heat boiler fired with biomass and a solid fuel inceneration plant with automatic fuel supply (including deashing, multi-cyclone dust separator and electrostatic filter) as well as one boiler fired with biogas. Secondary and control loops for the heating of separate process zones of the plant as well as circulating pumps and containers with fully-automatic control system and remote maintenance complete the plant. The boilers dispose of a heat capacity of 850 kW each. The heat recovered from the combustion of the green waste is provided by a thermo oil intermediate loop for the gas processing of the biogas plant.
The Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg dedicates itself to the development of energy sources from renewable raw materials in the field “Climate & Energy”. Since 15 December 2010, Hamburg has been officially “Green Capital of Europe 2011” and prevailed against 34 applicants at the EU Commission. In 2010, the city of Stockholm was the first winner of this award.
