The new heat 11 team member, Juergen Kroeger, tells in the interview about his professional career and looks back on over 40 years of thermal oil technology.
In addition, he explains the reasons for his new professional focus.
Mr. Kroeger, you have been working in the thermal oil technology for over 40 years. What made you change to the sales and to heat 11?
First of all I would like to take a look into the past. I had my entry into the industry in the mid-1970s as design engineer in an East Westphalian company in heat transfer plant technology. At that time the technology had just grown out of its boots. There were already appropriate pumps and fittings for the technology and the first issue of the dewy DIN 4754 was published, nevertheless the thermal oil technology was still at the beginning of its rapid development and its rise.
I am pleased to say today that I have played a decisive role in this. In the early 1980s, I designed and projected the first mono-fluid plants in the pharma and chemical industry – including assembly support. This was necessary because the assembly companies (piping and thermal insulations) had no experience with a medium that should cover the range -25 °C to > 200 °C in the same system. For example, in the type of the thermal insulation – a compound of mineral wool and a diffusion tight cold insulation.
How did the plant technology develop after its beginnings?
The 1990s and 2000s were characterized by new technical requirements of the industry. For instance plants with operating temperatures up to 400 °C or the simultaneous use of heat transfer and pressure generation for hydraulic tasks as well as container plants and other efficiency enhancing developments.
And then? How have the technical achievements and the new opportunities impact your work?
My years in the technical management in the 2010s were, with all facets, extremely interesting and challenging. From this perspective, 40 years of thermal oil technology were exciting and allowed no boredom.
In order to keep an ear close to the market, I was already successful in sales in the last few years. The requirements and expectations of the users have grown. Beside the preparation of quotations, a competent advice in solving technical problems is expected. Information about regulations is also demanded and support for approvals and acceptances is expected. This interesting mixture has made me curious and ultimately explains my change in sales.
So now heat 11?
Yes. The company heat 11 from Bielefeld has been a growing player on the market since its founding – with a very good standing, a large product portfolio and high profile. In search of an experienced and motivated team I am at the right place. The competence in the field of the heat transfer technology is remarkable and I am pleased to be able to contribute my knowledge to the company from now on.
